This object is shaped like the toe of a boot with a squared off toe and is large enough to hold the toe of a man's boot. It has a riveted metal strap which has some chased decoration. The strap goes from the sole of the boot across the top on the instep where it supports a rod which could be used to hold a leater strap. It has a hole in the sole approximately 1 inch in diameter about one inch from the back (toward heel) of the sole plate.

A friend is renting an old farm house and the owner moved old furniture in the barn. there are several beautiful pieces and I offered to buy this one for $250. It is a Lane cedar chest, dark wood outside and the inside is in prestine condition. It sits approx 4-5"off the ground on legs. The paper that is stapled to the lid has a Nov 23, 1927 date on it though I am not sure if that is the date of assembly. It does have a lock but no skeleton key. There is decorative wood carving on the front. The ouside is in excellent condition and will clean up exceptionally.
