THIS IS A HAND CARVED PROFILE OF AN ETHNIC PERSON, POSSILBLY AFRICAN. NICE DETAIL. IT IS POSSIBLY A WALL HANGING WITH CARVING DONE INSIDE OF HAND CARVED FRAME, ALL ATTACHED, ONE SOLID PEICE OF WOOD. WOOD IS HARD BUT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE OAK OR CHERRY. SUBJECT APPEARS TO BE WEARING SOME KIND OF HEAD ORNAMENT OR HAIR UP WITH LARGE FLOWER OR FEATHERS. PROFILE IS OF LEFT SIDE OF FACE, NECK AND SHOULERS .VERY UNIQUE. THIS PEICE APPEARS TO BE VERY OLD BUT IN GREAT CONDITION.
This is a grenn box with four wooden peg legs that are screwed into the bottom of the box. There are 2 pouches on the inside hinged cover that are in gold fabric. There is gold trim on the outside of the box. One handle on the outside is missing. The inside is an open space minus a small shelf like spot that is about 5 inches wide. Tag says it was made by Burlington Basket Company in Burlington Iowa. All I can find when I search this is wicker like products and this is made of wood, somed fabric on the inside and almost like a green plastic like covering on the outside.
I searched and found the pattern and it is "Fascination". This set is 12 long forks, 12 small forks, 21 small spoons, 12 large spoons, 12 butter knives and 6 other misc large serving pieces, From the slots it appears that 2 of these larger pieces are missing from the set. Just curious as to it being worth anything.
