silver candy dish possibly. stands on four feet about 2 in up. lion or possibly griffin 

I have in my posession a Capo di monte sculpture that was given to me by my grandparents.

Got for $50 at a local flee market. From what I can tell it is a genuine slab top with a root base. I am not entirely sure if it is burl or not.

 
The painting is 48 x 24.
Has been hanging on the same wall for over 50 years.
It's been in the family since the late 1950's but unknown as to when it was produced.
