These are chairs that my grandparents had restored in 1954. The restoration itself could stand to be restored at this point as there are some imperfections such as small upholstery stains and minor scratches. They are probably the result of other family members having a turn with them in their generation. As a child I was told they were not strong enough to sit in, and that certainly appears to be the case, as the burlap on the bottoms of the upholstery is dry and brittle. Three of the four have the tag in the photo attached. One is missing, having fallen off at some point.
The tabletop wood is very soft and has indentations from writing. One dropleaf's wood split and was shortened. There is no metal hardware except for the drawer handle and the lion's paw with wheels at the base of the legs.
