This set has never been polished that I remember (50 yrs.). My Mother bought it in the late 1950's or 60's while in Europe when my Father was on cruise with the United States Navy. I believe the Steel and Knife blade are a hrd metal, attached to the silver handles. The Fork may also be of a seperate metal, as it has not tarnished as much as the handle. Note: one tine of the fork is shorter than the other, either by design or damage.
This dining set consists of a table, 6 chairs, and a hutch-type piece. It is made of English Oak and is Victorian style. It was bought in 1932 by a relative of mine at an antique auction. It was made sometime in the early 1800s. It is in really good condition, and was restored by a specialist about 20 years ago who estimated it at around $5,000.00.
Writing on the bottom of the bottle reads "Federal Law Forbids Sale or re-use of this bottle." Markings in the center are as follows "D-334 119 3 63"
On the front there are blue drawings of old ships and on the back there is a textured outline of a windmill on the ocean.
