Sheffield plate silver candlesticks

Category
Silver and Silver Overlay
Condition
Good
Description

Hello experts

I have recently purchased a pair of stunning matching candlesticks from a local good quality car boot sale. They seem to have an art nouveau look to their outer design but appear to be of an earlier style. The candlesticks have 4 old scroll letters and some other mark in between which is indistinguishable as it seems to have been polished away. The two first and two last letters could possibly be EP and NS but again, difficult to make out. The underside looks ancient with a dark brown weathered material with some old black pitch inside base. The candlesticks have what appears to be a seam running down each side of each stick down to just below the top of the base. I am unsure as to whether they are of thin silver or silver plate on top of copper. Their condition is very good with only one of the sticks having the top part being a little squint and both sticks needing a proper clean up.

Could anyone give me a rough idea of the period they are from and any other relevant information, value, material etc.

Many thanks

Alex Tickell

Dining Set

Category
Furniture
Condition
Excellent
Description

This is the cabinet, it is 51" wide, 14"deep and 68" tall.  It has 4 shelves with a grove in the back of each shelf.  It also has a tag on the back that says Union Furniture Co. Jamestown NY - No.75 then written in pencil it say 22 or 23 then order No. with 1481 written in pencil.  I don't know if it goes with the table and chairs, but the color matches and it is beautiful.

This is the buffet, or just the corner of it, sorry it is buried- this matches the table for sure, has same legs and and color- it is around 7Ft. long, 22"deep with 2 small drawers and one large one in the middle.  Its a very nice piece.

These are the chairs that go with the set, 6 Chairs total, 2 has arms and the rest does not.  These chairs all have needle point backs on all of them and the two chairs that goes on the ends of the table has needle point seats to match as well.  The chairs that goes on the sides have velvet.  I was told these were done by my grandmother and grandfather when they were younger. So I don't know if this is true or not, they have been in the family for a very long time and handed down several times, this complete set.  They are all in very good condition and look really nice.

The table is 6Ft. long without the leaf, and 8ft with the leaf.  It is 46" wide approximately and in very good shape.  It has 2 legs on every corner and 4 in the center, all carved, and looks very nice.  Every corner has these details on them.  And the table also has a pad on top of it to protect it.  This entire set has been in my family for a very long time.  It has been handed down to me about 15 years ago.  And here it sit unused.  Would like to get some information on it, Thank you.
