I bought this at an antique market in Brantford Ontario today. Its a painted box , the front of which looks like the front of a house in shape. There are 2 doors on the front that open up, the hinges are made possibly of leather, and inside are 7 figures. The 4 forefront figures looked to be dressed in Russian type clothing holding scissors in each hand and are looking up at the 3 figures in the back which appear to be elevated off the ground. The 3 in the back are dressed more like gypsies. One is playing a stringed instrument and one is playing a fiddle or violin, the middle figure is a female and she has a glass and bottle in her hands. Above them hangs a vulture.I don't know what they are made of but it isnt wood, They appear to be brightly painted but it is quite dirty. The piece is in very good condition with the only damage being the violinist is missing his bow. I wondered if it had to do with the Barbers of Sevelle but they dont appear to be dressed for that peroid.
