Re: Robbins Table
castors can easily be found. The Robbins Furniture Co was founded in 1873. At some point before 1905 they changed their name from the Robbins Extension Table Co to include just Robbins Table Co. The company closed in 2001. Its extension tables are much sought after by collectors.
Your table was made in the late 19th or very early 20thC.
My research indicates your table has a retail antiques value of $2000-3000 assuming refinished excellent condition.
. the missing slats and leg would increase the value a bit. the moving company insurance should try to help you a little there.
Re: Robbins Table
Thank you for your reply. The moving company says they are looking for the missing parts. We actually found the leg yesterday, wrapped in a huge blanket in our garage. We're hoping the leaves are there somewhere too but we're running out of things big enough to be them!
They will pay a claim if I file one but the table has big sentimental value for me and I prefer having the original parts. It has been refinished and the repair company they sent out told my husband it would be worth it to "pester" the moving company until they find our parts.
Re: Robbins Table
yes the leaves could raise the value another 300-500$ . approve my appraisal if you like it. thanks and i am glad i could help . the refinishing may have actually dropped the value of it. by 30-50%. but it might be a big inprovement on what it looked like before the refinishing. you have to be carefull if thinking about refinishing rare or high dollar pieces of furniture. you love the piece anyways which is great. a lot of other collectors love this piece also. that is how they commonly get to be worth over 1000$. it is a great and sought after piece. it certainly is worth hounding the movers for the missing pieces.
Re: Robbins Table
Unfortunately the table was refinished before my parents got it 45+ years ago. Nothing has been done to the table since. I do love it and the only reason I was seeking the potential value was for the claim I may have to file. Thank you again for your comments.
Re: Robbins Table
your welcome . definately a nice table . i hope you find the slats. great you found the other leg that was a lot of lost value .
