This is a fantastic 4-piece etched mirror set showing part of the New York City skyline. It includes the Twin Towers, The Empire State Building, The Chrysler Building, gold leaf etched Brooklyn Bridge, and a portion of the Hudson Bay among others. It is said that the mirror set was commissioned by the Coca-Cola company in Atlanta as a gift to the three top Superviors at that time, all of which were coming up for retirement. It is also claimed that it is one of only three acid-etched mirror sets, produced by Johnnie Walker, but I don't know where to look for information to verify the statements. It was left hanging in the Supervisor's office at the downtown Coca-Cola building in Griffin, GA on Taylor Street until the new building owner had the building remodeled/renovated for business purposes at which time, he gave the mirror set to one of his employees. The employee is my cousin and he sold it to me. I have had it now for about two years or more and now I would like to know what it's worth.
There are 8 in the set of these Godinger Silver Flutes. They are engraved with grapes and Grapevines. They weigh about 12 1/2 oz each and are in excellent condition, though they have not been polished.
Well...I've got 2 bookends , they are about in the same condition. I am going to paste description, that I found online, because its desribes it well and correct.
It is a beautiful picture by William Ladd Taylor dated 1901.(But not signed here)
"The subject matter is compelling. It is an elaborately dressed young woman sitting beside the fireplace holding the hand of what looks like her slave. She is lost in thought. I believe the name of this is "Awaiting his return." But I'm not 100% sure. W.L. Taylor (1854-1926) was from Massachusetts and t are many good historical accounts on his life and art if you google him.
Condition is excellent for its age, I think...Remarkable picture.Seems to be lithoprint.
I will really appreciate, if anyone could help me to find out value of it.
