Unique, impressionist style perhaps. 3 feet wide by 2 feet high. Dark pigments including reds greens and browns with colors placed evenly throughout. Colors are so deep. Men in boats all have ores up and there are four boats total. Stones in lower left foreground. The people seem to all have coats and hats and look european to me. faces are not visible. It could be very old but I don't know its origin or era. I'm including a photo of signiture in lower right corner. Cursive Green Font with large bold letters but a mystery to me. This Looks aged and needs tended to but.....Museum Quality perhaps Thank you for any advise that may aid me in my search
I know only that this item was manufactured by Homan. I bought it at an estate sale many years ago, packed it up, and only recently rediscovered it. According to some research I've done on the internet, it was made between 1847 & 1896.
This item is VERY tarnished, don't know the best polish to use on it.
I inherited these items from a Great Aunt & Uncle whom resided in NC. The owned and operated an antique store in Franklin, NC - however, this suite was in their personal home. I did find the sticker inside one of the drawers that read:
Solid Cherry
Welsh Valley
By Thomasville
The condition is "good" - we have actaully been using the furniture and just purchased new. All drawers operate fine, all doors operate fine, there are no missing handles or knobs, there are some scratches where the insert sets in connection with the larger dresser (3 pieces). The headboeard is for a King Size Bed.
