I have posted this before with no luck. I have new pictures. I am hoping there is someone out there that knows something about it, or someone that can send me in the right direction to find out anything I can about it.
I was "told" by a collector that this is pre-WWII because the swastika is straight and not tilted like the nazis swastika. It does look like the locked is rivited together. It is does have surface rust but is solid, no holes. There is no key but it does seem to be functional, hasp does flex.
I'm trying to get a price for my neighbor who wants to sell this. I don't know much about it, but have some photos. The finish seems to have a little damage, but she turned it on for me and it does play.
Am trying to uncover more of the history of this painting. From what I have so far, the artist is believed to be Francesco Penni, a student of Raphael. There is writing on the back of the frame, tracking the ownership of the painting back to 1802. Here is the address to a web page where I have posted many photos of the piece:
