This is a photograph of Mae West in a formal gown with a feather boa. It is rather large at 28"by40". We found it when our renter moved out. I am wondering if it's worth something or if I should just trash it.
Purchased this Rocking Chair for 40 dollars the other day. It was found buried under cloth at a thrift store. I have looked for markings under the seat, but have not found any carvings or marks. The handpainting gold detail is so lovely, very well taken care of, with exception of a few chips on the top and bottom of back of chair. I have never seen a full back rocker before. What can you tell me about this Rocker? Origin? Age? Worth? I have looked all over the internet for something similar, but no such luck. I didnt really pay alot for it, but something tells me this one is special.
One lamp is approximately 20" tall. The other is approximatel 24" tall. Both purple in color with gold colored handles. Pictures on both of dancing couples from dressed in circa George Washington attire. The taller lamp came from my Grandmothers house. The other came from a antique store in Chicago. One of them holds a place in my heart no matter what the worth.
The dogs are very heavy and made of cast iron. I found no markings on them and was told they came out of the William Gould Brokaw estate (fairview park lodge in the 1920's). An article about the estate can be found in Our State magazine from Oct 2011. I have the arms also but took them off so I could display. Dogs are cast on both sides (not flat on back)
