Two beautiful still paintings signed by what looks like "A M Robbe"? Not sure if that was an early signature of Manuel Robbe or not? Also signed "14 Aout 1917" which is August 14, 1917. I don't know enough about paintings to tell if these are oils, but the paint does have a slight texture to it and a bit of a sheen with some the colors when you tilt the painting to the side. The canvas seems old, as it has some stencil imprints on the back that say "fine" and the back of the canvas has an antique golden hue to it. One of the paintings has two small pin holes, one on each side of the painting, as if it had had another frame application at one point. One of the paintings has a small press point in the center as if it was stored on top of something. For the most part, you can just feel it a little bit and not see it. I believe these paintings were meant to be hung together and will be sold as a pair. These paintings would look lovely in a French Country kitchen.
I found quite a few cups and saucers and some other fine china with my mother's belongings. She told me that they were given to her by her mother and grandmother. I think this piece is between 50 & 100 yrs old.
