Its really nice. The picture doesn't do it justice. The blocks in the sky reflect in the realistic looking water. I can find no value on sleepy read paintings. But everyone in texas I talk to seems to think it has value. They all know of him. An interesting note is that the painting is dated 64. But he worked in the sheetmetal business until 1968 when he quit to become a painter. Also... Does anyone have any idea what an Early Sleepy Read painting might have sold for? I can't find any sale prices anywhere. Not that I want to sell it. I just would like to know what I found.
I have done some research, I found the Deinzer family in the 2nd half of the 19th century in Detroit. The Union Furniture Co. was founded in 1876 by Swedish immagrants. I would like to know how much the set is worth. My mom says its alot, dad says not alot...Im in the middle. About, 20 years ago mom had the chairs recovered and re-stained, the guy doing the work offered $1000.00.(that is why mom says alot) The original fabric is still on the chairs..it is a dark green, possibly velvet. 3 leafs, 5 chairs, 1 arm chair, buffet, table. Any info would be great, Thanks
The base of lamp is brass and very heavy. The Lady has intricate details of flowers on a lace bodice made of porcelin. Flowers maybe capodimonte I think, but I could not find any markings on the outside of the lamp nor the inside of the brass.
