Chinese carvings

Category
Asian Art
Condition
Mint
Description

There are seven "gods of plenty" in the set. I have two. Each carving holds something of food. My two carvings hold a fish and a gourd. They came to central NY in the 1800s. They are made from eucalyptus root and are very deep red in color. They probably date to around 1100 A.D. I have close to 50 pictures from different angles and in different detail.

Toltec Pre Columbian pottery figure

Category
Other
Condition
Excellent
Description

This is a pre-columbian figure that is made of a terra cotta type pottery material.  I notice that the figure's right hand is positioned on his chest and his left hand is resting on his right thigh. These characteristics seem to be common and present with other "Authentic"  Toltec figures.  Also, the grooves, lines and holes carved in the headdress and body area, nostril holes, detailed lips, and the round curvature of the arms at the elbows seem to be found often with other Toltec figures I have seen pictures of that are said to be authentic.  The color of this figure is not at all "orange" as it appears to be in the attached picture.  The terra cotta pottery material mostly resembles the color of dried dirt.  The built-on pedestal that the figure balances it's back side on also seems to be commonly present on other authentic Toltec's.
