Pan American Band and Instrument Co. marching snare drum

Category
Music and Music Instruments
Condition
Fair
Description

This is a marching snare drum made by the Pan-American Band and Instrument Co. in Elkhart Indiana probably in the late 1940's or early 50's. I think it was a student model drum with wood hoops made from Ludwig parts around the same era. A friend of mine found it on the street and gave it to me. (I am a professional drummer in NY) It is probably made of mahogany, poplar or maple and I can't find out ANYTHING about this drum and I've been researching it for almost 2 years. At this point it almost seems to be one of a kind. It is not in great condition and there are some parts missing but maybe you can help. I listed it on Ebay as a one of a kind item for $3000 but no interest. It probably isn't worth much, but I'm still very curious.

Thanks,

Rodney Ledbetter

Gold pocket watch

Category
Watches and Timepieces
Condition
Mint
Description

My son found a beautiful old gold Arnex pocket watch, 17 jewel, incabolic, swiss made, in a vacant house he bought.  It looks so dainty I'm wondering if it is a _ladies_ pocket watch. I can't make out what the designs are.  I'm trying to find out more about it but don't know how to open the back to see if there's any information that might be helpful.  The front opens fine by pushing the stem down.  The minute hand is still running but the hour hand is bent or broken. Can you tell me anything about it and how I open the back?  Thanks
