Description

Grandmother considered this her most prized piece.  Back in the 1940's she was offered $1,500 and she said no!  She was an antique afficiando and she said this was colonial possibly 1700's.  Not sure of date but it's all hand carved, hand made with wooden nails.

French Sword and Scabbard

Category
Militaria
Condition
Excellent
Description

"Manuf_re d'armes de bh'at _u Mai 1874 - bav_rie l_re M_b 1822" (the underscores and italisized letters are written on the sword as a dash with the letters above)

Slightly curved Blade 36" in straight line from Hilt to Point.  Hilt is 5" across.

It's fairly heavy to handle.  The sword alone weighs 2.5, with the scabbard it's 4.5

My parents got this from a family friend and it's been hanging on a wall in their home as decoration.  It has no dents, dings, or scratches and just a few little tarnished spots.
