I purchased this chess set at a yard sale this past weekend. The woman I bought it from said her parents had purchased it in Germany many years ago. The pieces are big - the king is about 5 inches, I'd say - and they have a nice heft/substantial feel to them. Shiny deep red and yellowish colors. I believe they're bakelite. The set is complete with case and board, and is in excellent condition, with the exception of a chip on one of the castles. I would like to know more about the set (I can't find ine like it online) and a truer value than what I paid. Thanks!Thanksgivings
This is a beautiful piece I found at an estate store in lynchburg, va. I looked up the markings on the bottom which said it was made in London over 100 yrs. Ago. The company that made it was only in business a very short time.
Below is a link to a website for Metro Retro that shows a picture of a restored Ensole Corporation Minibar with refrigerator. The website contains information on the cabinet including dimensions. I'm also attaching pictures of the one I own which has not been restored. http://www.metroretrofurniture.com/cgi-bin/store_drm.pl?item=6856
