Vintage Gunter-Kerzen candle

Category
General Antiques and Collectibles
Condition
Good
Description

I have a Gunter-Kerzen handcarved candle. It is 11inches in height and 5inches wide. It reads "craft has golden ground" (in German) on the front. It has various secenes of workers each labeled in German. (some are legible and some are not as this candle is VERY old) I believe it has a removable insert in the top for candle swapping but it still has the original candle so i am not sure. The candle has been in my family for 40 years and was in Germany. It has extremely detailed carvings and A LOT of color. The candle has been slightly burned and the stuckers on the bottom removed. I cannot find this exact candle anywhere and have been told by past family that it is extremely rare and valuable.

Copper pot with spout

Category

Description

It has a patent # on the spout dating 1951. It has no markings on the pot itself. I have done as much research as I can and still have no idea what it is.

Polychromatic Studio Glass Wall Sconce

Category
Lamps and Chandeliers
Condition
Good
Description

I wasn't sure where to list this piece, glass or lamps, as it is a lighted fixture, but the most notable  feature are the glass pieces.

The sconce is decorated with three separate pieces of large colored (stained) glass, which are secured to the metal mounting frame by six solid brass bolts. There are no identifying marks on the glass, or frame, but the previous owners did paint over the original paint on the metal frame. Inside the metal frame is four candelabra type bulbs, one of which I had to replace. I could not find any noticeable hallmarks or signatures anywhere on it. They may have been painted over, or if it was a sticker it could have come off.

The three large strips of glass are colored glass, through and through, not painted. There is a cobalt blue, ruby red, and the golden-yellow piece has light hues of purple around the edges. In addition, the glass has an iridescent/oxidization to it. All three pieces are slightly different sizes and shapes, and are about 1/4-1/2 inches thick. Also, I wasn't sure what measurements to give since it's 3 separate pieces of glass, attached to the metal frame. The measurements below are of the entire piece together. The imperfections of the glass make me think they were hand made. As well as, the metal frame housing which doesn't look like a clean machine made piece.

The metal frame is like a 3-D shadow box, which houses the four candleabra style bulb and wiring. There are six stems ranging in height, these are what hold the glass to the metal frame, secured by the solid brass button screws. The frame has welding that appears to be done by hand, as well as the brass screws look like they were made specific for this piece.

The electrical, looks to date around the late 50s to the 60s, but could have been added after the piece was made.

Additional Notes- the previous owners had this hanging from a cut and re-purposed electrical cord which is gold colored. This is still attached in the photos, however, there are four holes on the back of the frame, in the flush portion that would, most likely, be for mounting it to the wall due the heavy weight (15 pounds). In the photos, you'll notice rubber plumbing washers in between the glass and the brass bolts. I placed these to prevent further chipping of glass, from the pressure of the glass between the brass bolts and metal housing.
