Gorgeous example of an early Heywood Brothers bentwood office chair with two brass medallions stating "Heywood Brothers Gardner Mass.  Pat Jan 7, 1873"

Cast brass hardware, original casters and carved Victorian legs, all in excellent original condition.

Apparently it was upholstered in horsehair and leather or fabric (there's one listed on Ebay in very poor condition selling for $600) as there are no drilled holes for wicker.

Going to the local upholsterer this morning for a quote...

Mikasa china

Category
China
Condition
Fair
Description

Set of dishes, smaller bowls and one larger bowl used by my Grandmother daily.  They aren't in bad condition - a chip on some plates but look pretty good.  I'm wondering if they are worth anything as they are just boxed and sitting at this point.

secretary desk from estate sale, need expert opinions

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Fair
Description

this is a drop down secretary desk.  the veneer looks thick and tried the denatured alchol test but we are totally new at this.  it has an inlay on the drop down top and on the top rail.  there are some numbers stamped on the sides but the back has been replaced.  on the back it says 1940 and 23 and on the hinge it says pat.something.  the sides look to be carved out of a solid piece of wood.  maybe cherry (for the whole piece)  there is a key hole on the drawer and the dovetails of the drawer look hand made.  I believe the drop down had a keyhole that was replaced with a small knob.  Any information you may have on the period and the price would be greatly appreciated.
