My husband & I found this set in an Estate Shop in Carlsbad, CA. All I know is what I've been able to find online (that it was made possibly as early as the 1920's). I'm curious as to exactly what year it was made, and how much it would normally sell for. I've included three photos - one of a cup/saucer (to show the pattern), one of one of the stacks of plates, and one of the bottom of a saucer (to show the China mark).
This is a dramatic piece. I have seen other front secretaries, but nothing as striking. It is a tall piece that can serve as the focal point for a room.
Its a circular lock with som carved letters on thhe bottom. and the middle 3 reals move to fit the outer 2. i dont know the combonation. and its moderatly rusted.
The Dag is tinted and appears to have most of the original seals intact . Case is in poor repair and had to photograph the felt makers mark and enhance it to see the Brady Name and info. Light dust under glass that must have entered through small area of missing seal tape on back. Dag is tinted and 1/2 plate size. Color on pic a little off due to poor camera and my poor picture taking. Case missing hinges and bottom and side of 1/2 of case. Dag will slide out easily. Some point in it's history it was close to a fire which lightly burnt one side [left} of the case. The heat marks are evident on the left side of the preserver but the Dag appears fine. Spotting under the glass but not the the dag surface. Will be taking the piece to a Major Auction house in Chicago for authentication and appraisal.
