This life-size piece shows the most famous American poet of the 19th century at the age of 33, The varnished shading on the figure lends a feeling of antique marble to this example of cast-plaster statuary. Unknown whether this is a copy of another piece. No mark denoting artist or manufacture can be seen.
Quality: Good -- will require only very minor restoration.
Face, hair and clothing of the subject will require a few spots of paint touch-up.
Base of statue is chipped - missing 2 chips of plaster approx .25"x.25".
