Renardi Upright Piano, seems to be brown "French Polish" techniques, but some fading and green tint on side pannels has occured. Doubld Pedal system, "Over-damper-hammer" system inside casing. Inlay panel on keyboard lid reads "MACKAY BROS SOLE AGENTS TRANSVAAL" and name of Piano "RENARDI". Number printed on cast iron frame reads "22005". Keyboard has only 85 keys, not ivory, with black notes, not sure if it's ebony! Front Panel has "Candle Stick" Panel and marks on inside suggest that the original candle sticks were removed and the hole were covred up.
Would like to know the history of this particula model and make, were there more than one series made, who made them, where did they come from, Why the over-damper-hammer system? How old is this model, is it from 1922? How much would it fetch?
This table has two drop leafs on it. Each drop leaf is 15 inches wide. It has a 4 pedestal legged bottom. The numbers 4330 are stamped in white on the bottom of the table. The number 214 is carved in black under the table also. There is a side drawer that pulls out that has the stamp of the Brandt Company from Hagerstown MD.
Comes in a book holder which is damaged (the cover came off and was taped by the original owner) but could probably be fixed. Might be custom made. Also has a very old pair of headphones, for only one ear.
