Both purses are Whiting & Davis, from around 1948. I got them when I was in Junior High. The gold purse is in brand new condition. The silver purse has some tarnish on the clasp.
the painting is of a forest scene. a river runs through the forest down the middle of the picture. there are 4 prominent trees in the foreground and a snowy mountain top that looks like it could be the canadian rockies or maybe the swiss alps. the signature, G. Whitman appears in the bottom left corner in black . it is signed in all caps with the "G" and "T" the biggest letters.
Its a knome with hearts for eyes and a red tall cone hat with a heart wreath around his neck and he has candy hearts w/ messages at the bottoms of his feet. He's standing on a heartshaped platform.
