Sterling Silver Cross Necklace

Category
Jewelry and Gemstones
Condition
Excellent
Description

My Great Great Aunt went to a mine somewhere and found a piece of red jasper and had it attached to a custom made cross necklace some 50-odd years ago. She then gave it to my Great grandmother. She then passed it on to my Mother who has given it to me. It is in very nice condition, made of sterling silver, and red jasper. There are no distinguishing marks that I can find, even looking under a magnifying glass. I would like to know where the jasper could have been found if possible, and the estimated price of it. By the way, the pictures are terrible. they were taken by my cell phone last minute, so don't use them to judge, because they cannot do the necklace justice. Thanks!

Should I Strip & Refinish or Paint?

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Good
Description

This is a side table/harp table looking piece. It looks to be made out of cherry or a lighter mahogany. Under the table it has a gold plate indicating the following: Brandt Furniture of Character; 50th anniversary 1901-1951; 4705 51-493; Hagerstown, MD. It has a rectangular top that looks to be as if it is some sort of magazine holder (kind of like an old school desk). There are three legs that have a banana looking shape. It also has gold/brass claw like feet. I apologize for the butchering of this description, but as you can tell, antique furniture is new to me.
