The jewelry box is made of Maple wood, we believe and has oval Ivory inlays on the top. They are carved into designs of flowers and bees. The box is all put together with brass hand made tooling, hinges & corner beads, with leaf designs. The lock and key is hand-made. All corners are rounded smooth.
The inside is padded cloth, that is partitioned off. Inside of top needs complete restoration. The inside of the box does need work to restore it back to a beautiful jewel box as it once was.
I believe the vase is made of porcelain and is painted dark royal blue inside and out. It is all one piece with three legs. It is all designed in 18K gold. It has designs of flowers & a picture of a man & woman with a string instrument, music book & flowers. It is outlined around the legs and the top edge with gold. It is written on the bottom 18K gold and the number #C9458. All of the gold trim & design is 18K gold.
I have photos of both vases. The short one is Nippon which I know is the imprint for items from japan before 1920. The second taller vase is marked Made in Japan. Both vases were inheirited this past May. I am looking to see what the value is before we list them on EBAY. I can email pics I was unable to upload as the files are too big, I can only reduce in an email
It has some wear and tear and needs wood glue in spots. It has a beautiful painting/design in the center of the board and the mesh corner pockets could probably be replaced if I knew where to get the replacements.
