A bird chewed on some of the edges and some of the fruit, as shown in the pictures, has been chewed off. Some of the fruit flakes have been saved but are in many pieces.
Bought at an antique store in the San Diego area in 1992.
The photo doesn't really capture the subtle gold tone of the main body. It is very elegant, and a gorgeous wall hanging; a focus for a room. Because of the gold/blue scheme it is different from the usual red ones with white cranes (have one of those too). I know these go for about $3000 as wall hangings in fancy antique shops so I don't want to get ripped off selling it for $200 on eBay. if you know of a site that would be interested in this kimono, please let me know. By the way, I left my clothes behind and stuffed this kimono in my backpack when I was in Japan in 1985. I was told it was an 'antique wedding kimono', whatever that means.
