Korean brown ceramic teaset, consisting of 7 pieces - teapot, 5 plain cups, tray. The set is in perfect condition, having been in its box for the last 25 years. Each piece has a mark on it. The marks on the teapot and cups are shown in the photos. The teapot has some writing and marks all around its upper parts as shown in the photos. The box lid also has some writing on it, which my Korean friends were unable to decipher - see photo.
I know a bit about upholsering and can tell you that the pillow is full of feathers, not foam. Also, the stuffing is old, possibly horse hair. If it has been reupholstered they did an excellent job but it may very well be the original fabrics. Even the dust cover underneath appears original. My guess is that this was sitting somewhere like a parlor where it was rarely if ever used.
Note: Even if it's not what we think, that's okay. We like it for its look. However, I saw one in an antique book very much like it that was appraised at $3,000. Your comments will be greatly appreciated!
These are two large hand-carved pieces, both on oak. I am unsure which ethnicity this might reflect? And what the value might be? I was thinking Persian or Arabic? But then again could be African? These are large and heavy, about 33" tall. The craftsmanship is awesome, whether it's valuable for that or not, someone spent a lot of time and care making these.
These three dolls are stand approximately 8" high. i cannot find any marks on them. the clothes are fastened by a tiny staple and are not removeable. they all have highly decorative gowns on. one has a dress with shamrocks and a large hat. the other one looks like a wedding gown. the last one has a white gown with blue and pink flowers, pink bottom, and a lace hat. the hair is in excellent condtion and they are in excellent condition to display. the entire body is made of the hard material. their lips are all closed and painted bright red. they have moveable limbs and head, which are connected with some kind of rubber band system.
