We bought this item 35 years ago from an elderly person that was cleaning out their house. Everything works on it. No broken pieces. Exterior has few marks on it.
This piece of silverware shows obvious signs of wear with plenty of scratches and marks over the surface. I am guessing that it's function may be as a gravy boat? It has no hallmarks and is stamped with 'Specially made for Appel Bros Warwick' on the base. From a little research, I think that 'Appel Bros Warwick' may refer to a historic jewelery shop in Australia which was open c. 1900. Any further information relating to the history, function or value of this piece of silverware would be appreciated. It appears to me to be quite unique.
I inherited this corner cabinet from my aunt, and she may have gotten it from or through distant relatives in the State College, Pennsylvania area. It's black with marquetry panels depicting religious scenes. It may have been a piece in a rectory or church (Catholic) at some point. It has three interior shelves, claw foot legs, brass hinges and locks, mirrored top shelf. I don't know the wood type, although the piece may be ebonized?
I have tried to find out where this came from. It's a table and matching chandelier lamp/girandole/ elec. candelabra...(not sure on exactly WHAT it is, so pretty hard to ID it, lol) The pieces table and lamp seperate, but are obviously made by the same maker. Not sure if it IS antique, or just MADE to LOOK antique, etc... Any info would be GREAT! I can't sell it until I know where it has come from.... :)
I purchased this desk from my neighbors mother. she was in her eighties or so, and she told me that it belonged to her mother. she stated it was over 100 yrs old. There are no markings or imprints on it. believe the wood to be solid oak. slanted lift top, with two drawers on top.
