I was thinking it could be any of the following: gentlemens chest, secretaire, drop front desk secretary. It looks like it is very old, but similar to another piece I own from the 1930's, but the way the wood grain looks ... it looks similiar to a victorian dresser I have from 1904. Anything would help at this point. I would love to know the history, or just help identifying this item. Possible value is always cool to know... but anything at all would help! Thanks everyone!
Please tell me as much as you know about this item. I know Crescent Furniture Company was one of the first high end furniture makers in 1904. I found, what looked like to be my exact dresser in a Crescent Furniture print ad from that era on a google search within The Furniture Journal. The dresser definitely used to have dresser attached to the back, because there are places where you could screw one in. The dresser does have the original card on the back that says "Crescent Furniture Co. Warren, Pennsylvania"... well I think. Refer to the picture because a few letters are missing. It is in excellent condition to be so old... doesnt look like it was ever refinished. I really would love to find out the history on this item even more... and the possible value of this piece. I love it so much and I am so interested to learn as much as I can about it. Thanks for all your help!
**The smaller piece is in mint condition, the larger one has a crack which you can see in the photo.
I'm certain the pieces were done in the mid 1800's and in England. They are beautifully done of hand cut glass, quite detailed and fine quality. I can not find any markings on either piece however, so would appreciate any information on the value.
