American Chippendale slant front desk. Reportedly from early 1800's or late 1700's. Seller's auction report says the wood is Birch, but resembles Walnut to me. Side panels and lid are one piece of wood. All but one lock is present, brasses look original, and there is no overt sign of refinishing. Although the finish is dull and I'm not convinced it hasn't been worked on. Some cracking in the lid. Repairs to several drawers. Front legs repaired. Interior drawers have black fronts; I'm not sure if this is orginal 'ebonization' or has been painted.
