This vase is very decorative with gold edging and body has gold painted design also. It is approx. 16" tall and 6" across. It was pledged to be an antique but has no markings for a novice to know much about it.
I have no pics as of this time, but will be taking some. The detail and craftsmanship on this item is incredible. There is a picture of a woman on the inside dome she is holding a teacup and saucer and is surrounded by four birds one of them drinking from the cup. There is also a border around the pic. The chest seems to have had some type of a paper lining..most of it is still there. I believe there is also a name that was scratched in on the underside of the chest..it is very difficult to see...I believe it may say Mitro.
I have never seen so MUCH abolone and mother of pearl in a furniture piece ever before!! The pictures do not do it justice from seeing it in person! It is simply stunning! The detail and intricate work astounds everyone that see's it! Don't know how old it is or what it is worth? All I know is it's beautiful!! Someone....Please let me know what I have here????
Sorry, I do not have a digital camera. No photos available.
This is a large silverplated serving tray purchased in 1982 for a 20th wedding anniversary. The tray has amazing scrollwork covering it. There is a handle at each side of the tray. There is also a "foot" at each corner of tray.
The size of the tray is approx. 23" long x 18" wide. This does not include the handles. The feet are about 1.5" high.
The tray is heavily tarnished but I am hoping Tarnex will clean it up.
I have been holding onto this item for many years now and only been able to find one other like it on the web and its located in the Power House Museum in Australia.
