It has a red vinyl ribbon around the bas and under the decoration on toip with a strip on the ring. it opens up and looks like a stamp maybe?

Holy woman and children

Category
Paintings
Condition
Good
Description

I have what I think is an original pastel circa 1900 - 1920.  The woman is blond and has a halo around her head.  The two children are cherub-like and also blond.  The woman is wearing a red cloak.  The child in her arms on left side has a halo as well and is an infant with white blond hair.  the child at her knee on her right side has no halo and his or her hair is darker and curly.  the background is a country scene - rather sparse.  Low hills and rocks, perhaps a river.

This belonged to my grandmother and I'm guessing at the age because most of the artwork she had was around 1900's to 1920's.

The signature is E~S with no other markings.

I'd appreciate any information you could give me regarding this painting/pastel.

Thanks

Description

large canvas covered trunk 32 wide 20 height 18 1/2 front to back. 2 sets of slats all the way around body and 4 slats across the top of lid. 2 leather straps with buckels 2 "clasp?" locks and a key lock has small wheels on the bottom and both carrying handles. the slats on it look to be oak but not positive, all metal hardware seems to be in really good shape other then rusty brown coler. im thinking of having it restored if worth doing so. i have been researching for days now and can not find this exact trunk or any info at all on it. i do have pictures
