I believe it is oak, I haven't seen any stamps or marks anywhere. It is relatively large, so I would be curious how it got to where it is now. In good condition, except for a couple of glass stains.
I would love to learn more about this desk's history and value.
Not much is known about this item. The plate is made of bronze and is a beautiful color with
lots of patina. It is very heavy. The main design in the center of the plate depicts a battle with
four warriors or soldiers on horseback, one warrior carrying a flag with an symbol on it, and
another warrior with a mask. The warriors have highly detailed uniforms with elaborate head pieces and spears and swords. Around the edge of the plate are beautiful decorative scenes displaying birds, flowers and bamboo. There are also four chinese symbols on each of the plates four corners. The plate is scalloped around the edges and is about two inches deep. The plate has different variations of color according to the patina. There is also a stamp on the back of the plate.
