Would like to know more about this set of China I inherited. Meito China, watermark on the back just says Meito China, hand painted light green watermark. China pattern is light greenish blue with blue and pink flowers and gold edge. Have a full set (I think) 8 pieces two small saucers are cracked would like to replace.
A friend gave me this a few years back and I believe it to be Notre Dame. I have always wondered about it's history and who the artist was. There could very well be a signature on it at the very bottom- but I have not wanted to remove it from the frame. I'm guessing it is either a pencil or charcoal etching/drawing. (I know NOTHING about fine art!) The style in which it is done makes it almost appears as if it lace! From the arched entrances at the bottom of the cathedral, to the flags waving in the breeze atop the towers, I have counted 89 people- not including the people on the street. It is SO intricate and detailed, and at such a small scale- it makes it difficult to really appreciate the artwork and many, many hours it must have surely taken to create this. I have spent alot of time researching this piece, and although I have come across several that are quite similar- I have been unable to positively identify the artist. It resembles other pieces done by HENRI LE RICHE and also that of various other artists. I would like to offer this item for sale- but not until I find out some information as to it's origin and value.
