This classic American mahogany buffet is from the New Hampton Court Collection made by the Drexel Furniture Company. Its style offers a harmonious blending of the best Chippendale and Sheraton influences. The model number is 4107-4, manufactured September 1950. The Drexel mark is burned into the inside of the top drawer, and the back bears the stenciled identification.
This piece is classic Drexel, having four wide bow-front center drawers with smaller side drawers above the cabinet doors. The drawers and cabinet doors are faced in matched mahogany veneer with a rich dark brown color. The cabinet doors feature a graceful oval inlay, and the case has carved corner posts. A typically 18th century touch is found in the circular drawer pulls which are the original Hepplewhite solid brass handles, and the doors have the original solid brass pulls. Silverware drawer has the original Pacific Silver Cloth lining in excellent condition. Finely crafted from solid wood, it is in very good original condition. The drawers are made from solid wood with dovetail construction and center guides to prevent binding. The drawers open and close smoothly, and the cabinet doors are securely held shut by bullet catches. Width 62 inches; Depth 22 inches
