This is a large flat-top (I think) steamer trunk. It is black leather (?) with brass corners and lock from Yale & Towne Co. It has a pull-out tray inside which looks remarkably new to me. I'm not sure if it is the original or not.

I am thrilled with my purchase and do not intend to sell it, however I am very interested in the manufacturer since I cannot seem to locate any label on it. I would also like to know the value if at all possible.

It is an heirloom that was shipped from Louisiana to Nevada, It was damaged in shipping and I need an appraisal on the undamaged item for my insurance claim.  I also need an estimate on what it would cost to fix the two hinges that were damaged. I am providing pictures of the box before and after the damage.

 

Cream colored with pale pink, white and yellow roses on front, orange color around the top.  Green  imprint on bottom, top line all in capital letters unable to read, next line "EMPRESS with a four digit number below that (looks like it starts with 41).  Pitcher holds 4 cups.
