"This chair came to me from my mother who, at one time, owned an upholstery shop. The lady she bought it from said that it had been in a Catholic convent in Fort Worth. From what she knew of the Bishop's chair, it had been in the convent during when President Kennedy drove through Fort Worth on his way to the Fort Worth airport to fly into Dallas on the day he was shot and had stopped at the side of the road to speak to a nun and some children who were walking. The convent later burned, but the chair was unharmed and was later sold. There is a phoenix carved on the back of the chair and full lions ornately carved on the arms. This is an extremely solid throne chair. All joints are firm and secure. Non-structural condition - The upholstry straps under the seat cushion need to be replaced. It is a very regal chair. A very showy piece of furniture." - from the original Ebay ad.
this antique oriental lamp was aquired at a estate sale. in excellent condtion. very ornate and color full. has mystical creatures or lore, mermaids . base is i believe brass. it stands 18 in. tall to the top of light bulb socket. base is 7 in. wide. this lamp does light up. works well. has a shade and and a brass ring for top of shade. there are not any names or other clues as to where or who this was made by anywhere that i can see. someone that looked at this lamp thought it was made in the 1930 era.
this is a locket I found in a bag of vintage buttons, I bought at an estate sale. the locket is a morning, or memory locket that includes a lock of hair and an engraving. The lock of hair is under a bubble glass casing on the inside of the locket, and the engraving is over gold filled also located on the inside of the locket. the locket itself, seems to be made of brass and is smaller than a dime. This locket is in excellent condition. I ould like to know the value if any and more of an historical background for this time period.
Thanks for looking!
