I’ve had this Chinese screen divider in my family for many years. My parents bought it as an antique in the 1950’s. I don’t know anything else about it other than it being Chinese and an antique so any help in learning about possible year made and valuation would be much appreciated.
Tinned copper bowl with Hebrew inscription and 12 medallions representing 12 tribes of Israel. 4 characters with dots between them may be a date or signature. Inscription translates to the steps of Seder including Kadesh, Karpas, Urchatz and Maror. Hand engraved. There is a Hebrew character missing from the inscription, and the names of Simeon and Reuben have been swapped (Simeon is usually represented by a building). Plus Levi is represented by a grapevine, not an ephod, which is unusual. No provenance, from a dealer in South Africa.
