Standard Furniture Co. of Herkimer, NY roll top desk - 66" X 34" X 42.5" in Average condition (stains on desk surface - the rest in good condition.
I don't know the origin of this desk as it is an elderly friend of mine that owns it. I am trying to establish value to help her sell it. Thanks for any help you can give.
have a 32" rain maker stick. It has old leather ends, a broken loop of hair, and has wood with a white/cream inlay design of a weird looking fish in center of stick and each end has bird/turtle like creatures with scroll designs. There is great detail on the white inlaid, carved lines. I can't tell what the material is - bone, ivory, plastic or something else. Has a spiral wooden tacking about every 1/2" twirling down entire stick.
This painting is on leather over wood. The frame looks original to painting. The painting looks very old and has worm holes and crazing in the paint. Looks like a Russian icon painting but have never seen one like this before. It was bought in NYC in the 80s. Has never been appraised so not sure if it's origin or age. If anyone can give their input on this painting about it's origin and age and possible worth would be greatly appreciated.
A friend of mine thinks this is flash glass due to the bottom and the top is worn due to use. He thinks that this once had a glass top. It could be cranberry flash glass, but it is more pink than that deep red that cranberry has.
This has a pattern that is similar to the pineapple and fan pattern of carnival, but it's not the right color for carnival and this has 'X's on the pattern. The neck is not smooth, but is kind of like an octagon. It has a '4' at the bottom of the container. It is a beautiful color, like a fushia and has some irredescense to the piece.
Can someone confirm/refute what we found?
Is this a decanter that was used for wine or was it specific to pharmcuticals.
