just found stamped on the inside Bacon Banjo Co Inc. Groton CT USA #88152 I would like to know more about this model number I cant find anything out on the web about it.
This pitcher is 8 inches tall, 5 inches in diameter. It is white with black lettering and a blue makers mark. The mark is a 5-point crown with three jewels on the rim, tilted backwards. That is above a shield or banner with 3 pointed stripes. It seems to match makers marks for the German china maker Von Schierholz, but the pitcher is made of ironstone and not china. None of the markings are raised. The front of the pitcher says "2000cc" and measurements are also marked on the inside, as if for cooking or medical purposes. The bottom is warn, but does not appear to have any marking. There is no "made in" mark. It is in good condition, with a tiny chip on the spout. The lettering appears warn. There are no cracks or scratches.
For sale is truly the oldest antique I have found ever being early to mid 19th century. This serving tray is truly one of a kind. I had to consult someone else as I couldn't find anything else like it on the internet, not for sale now or ever! It measures about 5 x 4 and is in great condition for being 168 years old though it may be older. Similar trays were typical of the period and used during card games to entertain players. The makers marks seen on the back of this tray were used by William Carr Hutton (1803 - 1865). The MP A mark indicates this was a metal plate of the highest quality and it is believed the .15 is the amount of silver plated on the base metal.
His father was William Hutton (1774 - 1842).
William Carr worked for his father in Birmingham for several years. Two others sons, James and Joseph also worked for him.
In 1832 William Carr moved to Sheffield and set up his own firm. Became William Hutton & Sons in 1864.
With this information, it was made anywhere from 1843 to 1864. The crossed arrows marks you see more commonly didn't appear until the 1900's.
